I look forward to seeing everyone at our next scheduled meeting at a different location on:

Wednesday, April 23, 2003

9:00 am to Noon

Minnesota State Retirement System Building

60 Empire Drive, St. Paul

We have completed the many products discussed at our January meeting and are moving ahead to address the challenges and pursue the solutions we have defined in Preeminence Minnesota.  Our agenda next Wednesday will highlight elements of our current work that add up to the Preeminence vision.   We will also cover current issues of concern in federal and state legislation.

For your review, please find final copies of our products including:

·         Preeminence Minnesota 2003 Portfolio Report and accompanying brochure

·         2003 WorkForce Center Strategic Plan

·         Graphic representation of the MN Inventory of Publicly-Funded Workforce Development Programs (aka, Gunther Report).  The full print report is complete and available upon request from GWDC staff or through our web site at www.gwdc.org

·         “Employment and Training” primer prepared by The Joyce Foundation (distributed FYI)

Also enclosed for next week’s meeting are:

·         Summary from 1/17/03 meeting

·         Proposed agenda for 4/23/03

·         Chair’s Report

·         Memo from MDES Research staff  “A Return to Full Employment” as well as the most recent “Jobseeker Bulletin: Healthcare Workers” recently released by MDES

·         Briefing paper prepared for the Sustaining and Enhancing the Workforce (SEWF) Committee on “Solutions for Minnesota’s Healthcare Worker Shortage”

·         Invitation and background information on State Rehabilitation Council membership

As you’ll see, we have a full agenda for discussion and action.  As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact me at
612-373-7078 or GWDC staff at 651-205-4728.  Thank you.
