GWDC Gives "Setting the Community Table" Award

to partners in Saint Cloud 

In conjunction with the Workforce Minnesota: Education At Work conference, the Minnesota Governor’s Workforce Development Council presented its inaugural “Setting the Community Table” award to partners in the Saint Cloud area for their work on the 2002 Community Assessment.  Award recipients include: 

  • Catholic Charities represented by Steve Bresnahan, Executive Director;
  • Saint Cloud Area Economic Development Partnership represented by Tom Moore, President;
  • Saint Cloud Technical College represented by Dr. Joan Barrett-Volkmuth, President;
  • Stearns-Benton Employment & Training Council represented by Kathy Zavala, Executive Director; and,
  • United Way of Central Minnesota represented by Noreen Dunnells, Chief Professional Officer.

The award presentation by GWDC Chair Roger Hale and TV personality Robyne Robinson took place on October 10th at RIverCentre in Saint Paul.  Presenting the award, Ms. Robinson said: 

“The GWDC recognizes that collective community action must first begin with collective community vision.  Such vision comes only when everyone is ‘at the table’.  The GWDC is establishing this award to recognize community leaders who effectively ‘set the table’ for local discussion that results in vision and action.”

GWDC Chair Roger Hale congratulated the recipients for their leadership and action in completing the community assessment and using it as a foundation for other community efforts throughout the Saint Cloud area.
