Brenda Johnson, Vice Mayor for the City of Chatfield, serves on the Board of Directors for the League of Minnesota Cities and as a Trustee for the League’s municipal insurance trust. Prior involvement with the League includes several years on the Improving Local Economies Legislative Policy Committee as a member and as Chairperson. Johnson currently serves as a Board Trustee of the Southeastern Minnesota League of Municipalities and was President of the SMLM for over three years. For the City of Chatfield, Johnson serves on its City Council, Economic Development Authority, Heritage Preservation Commission, Public Services committee, and Public Utilities committee. Johnson had also been on Chatfield’s Planning and Zoning commission for seven years.

Johnson’s undergraduate work in Economics was at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, and graduate work at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Johnson has taught Economics as an Adjunct College Instructor for Rochester Community and Technical College since 1990.

Married for over 19 years, Johnson appreciates her husband’s support for her local government service. They have a ten year old daughter and a 1900 Queen Ann Victorian restoration project that keep them busy. Johnson has recently begun learning traditional rug hooking using strips of wool fabric, a centuries old technique sometimes described as “painting with wool.”
