Retention services to eliminate barriers |

Retention for entry
level workers is generally about eliminating barriers to showing up to
and being ready for work on a daily basis. This might be addressed through
wrap-around supports (e.g., child care and transportation), mentors, and
other vehicles for promoting self-esteem, confidence, and motivation.
Such supports do not necessarily need to be provided from within a single
service provider, but can be "packaged" within a community of
service providers. Service providers may also need to translate workplace culture or provide other kinds of "coaching" to the worker. Often, providers must
take clients out of their normal environment to pursue this kind of support.
For example, Women Achieving New Directions
does a Friday night family fun event once a quarter. |
