The GWDC Learned:
- Once
the GWDC's work is done in December 2004, there will not be an organizing
force for service providers trying to advance low wage workers in Minnesota.
There is great value in having an umbrella organization because service
providers usually only concentrate on the first question outlined in
the introduction of the report: What can we do for you? In addition,
grantees are fractured by the type of service provider they are. It
takes someone / some organization committing resources to do this type
of work, organize the work, organize the learning, and organize the
networking in order for Minnesota's service delivery system to be fully
effective and efficient. Programs such as the one outlined above often
occur throughout Minnesota, and others could learn from these best practices.
There must be a way to disseminate best practices such as this to other
organizations because it will improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of the system.
