Welcome to the Governor's Workforce Development Council
As Minnesota’s State Workforce Investment Board, the GWDC is at the center of a number of initiatives that are addressing the needs of Minnesota and its economy. More about the GWDC
By engaging and coordinating a wide array of stakeholders from business, labor, education, government, and community organizations, we are currently leading several initiatives:
2010 Policy Advisory
GWDC policy committees develop balanced and practical policies that are attuned to the needs of businesses and workers, and centered on creating a more vibrant economy for Minnesota. Here are some of the policy areas we are focused on:
-
Educating our workforce in school and beyond
-
Promoting opportunities for all workers to contribute
-
Streamlining the workforce development system
Minnesota State Energy Sector Partnership
A three-year, $6 million United States Department of Labor grant to provide training and job placement in the energy-efficient building, construction, and retrofit industries; the renewable electric power industry; and the bio-fuels industry.
-
See our current RFP to train Minnesotans in the occupational skills of energy efficiency and renewable energy industries
-
Return on Investment Initiative
In order to helping Minnesota achieve more with its limited resources, the GWDC is developing a comprehensive return-on-investment system that will help the state make smarter investments in workforce training and education.
Chapter 65 Collaborative Local Projects The GWDC identified and established four local projects to plan and coordinate employment, training and education services, and supports other innovative efforts like Minnesota FastTRAC.
